Compare The Market’s Meerkats Take Centre Stage With Meerkat Mondays

Never thought you’d see the glitz and glamor of a high-class musical combine forces with a leading fin tech? In its first major creative work in twelve months, Compare the Market went to extraordinary lengths to bring audiences its latest TVC.

When we last saw Aleksandr and Sergei they were being rescued by Dame Edna Everage. This time, they had to contend with a tricky co-star – COVID-19. To bring the next installment of the meerkat’s story to life, production had to move to Lisbon to escape COVID lockdown restrictions.

But despite its best efforts to bring them down (including nights shifts, surgical masks and physically distanced Portuguese dancers) Aleksandr and Sergei came out on top with jazz paws in full effect.

Meerkat Mondays celebrates the launch of an innovative new membership program with the support of a launch campaign created by VCCP.

In the TVC, we find meerkats Aleksandr and Sergei flanked by a team of Broadway dancers as they banish the blues, turning Mondays into fundays with a big stage number. Meerkat Mondays is accessible via the Compare the Market website and the Simples App.

Customers who buy eligible products become members for six months and are then able to access Meerkat Mondays and play for a share of more than $20,000 in prizes every week. New prizes become available every Monday and members can win more than once – everything from gift cards and iPhones through to the highly sought after Playstation 5s and 82” TVs.

There are even four Mini Coopers up for grabs in our major prize draws!

The launch TV campaign is supported by OOH, radio, OLV and social activity.

Compare the Market’s General Manager – Brand, Michael Goodhew said, “Meerkat Mondays is a really fun and rewarding way to engage with our customers.”

“Compare the Market has always been about helping Australians look for a better deal in a way that’s Simples. Now with Meerkat Mondays it can be Simples and rewarding – it’s a win-win!”

VCCP Creative Director, Paul Sharp said, “I’m usually more movie than musical, but dancing meerkats in sparkly suits is definitely a happy place.”
