Apple Recruits Sleuth Of Celebs, Including Alice Cooper, For New Apple Watch Ads

Apple has released eight new ads for its Apple Watch which heavily feature celebrities.

Actor Nick Jonas, signer John Batiste, singer Alice Cooper and actress Chloë Sevigny all have their own ad.

The ads are arguably reminiscent of the brand’s illustrious Apple iPod ads from years ago, with a single colour background and relatively simple execution.

It’s been nearly a year since Apple first launched its Apple Watch into market, however sentiment for the gadget appears to still be relatively low. At least that’s according to US site CNBC.

The publication cites research among tech savvy consumers, and argues more than half would constitute the Watch to be a flop.

Still, of those who do actually own a Watch, 77 per cent said they would consider it a success, with two-thirds planning on upgrading when the next doodad becomes available.

In January this year though, tech site IT News claimed half of smartwatch sales for 2015 were Apple Watches.

The article’s headline was accompanied with a WTF – what the fuck? – showcasing the general assumption many have about the Apple Watch.

The company quoted research from firm Juniper.

“Juniper says its ‘new data’ shows the Apple Watch has claimed 52 per cent of global smartwatch shipments in 2015, despite only launching at the end of April, with popularity far eclipsing ‘that of rival vendors, with Android Wear shipments comprising less than 10 per cent of sales for the year,” the publication said.
