With no construction reality TV shows or cooking shows on the primary channels last night, the news took their place again at the top of the charts.

Nine News and Nine News at 6.30pm took out the top two places last night, pulling in 1.034 million and 982,000 viewers respectively, according to OzTam preliminary ratings.

Seven News and Seven’s Today Tonight took out third and fourth place (938,000 and 886,000), and Seven’s Home and Away pulled into fifth place seeing 869,000 people tuning in to the hour long drama at 7pm.

Seven’s Border Security came in eighth position with 819,000 viewers, however it wasn’t enough for Seven to take top prize last night.

Regarding the total combined share, Nine came out on top with a whopping 35.2%, with 28.5% going to its primary channel.

Nine’s The Footy Show at 9.45pm raked in 787,000 viewers and came tenth overall.

Nine managed to grab eight of the top twenty most watched shows last night, as Seven grabbed five, ABC1 nabbed six and Ten saw one.

Seven came second with its total combined share with 26.4%, seeing 17.9% going to its primary channel, 4.9% going to 7Mate and 3.9% to 7Two.

ABC came third with 19.6%, ABC1 grabbing 13.9% and Ten came fourth with 14%, 8.7% going to its primary channel.

SBS came fifth with 4.8%, SBSOne seeing 3.9%.
