Nine teams with AFR for new business show

The Nine Network has partnered with Fairfax Media to launch a new Sunday morning business and finance program based on insights from the Australian Financial Review (AFR) newspaper.

Financial Review Sunday will leverage learnings from the AFR's business, investment and finance commentators and will be produced and presented by Nine journalists.

Debuting in early May, the live 30 minute show will air on Sundays at 10am and be hosted by Deborah Knight.

According to Fairfax Media, the show will “bring to life on the small screen all of the elements that make the Financial Review the essential publication for Australia’s business and investment community”. It will cover company and political news, analysis and gossip, to property and investment tips and trends.

Brett Clegg, CEO and publisher of Financial Review Group said: “Financial Review Sunday is the perfect complement to our print and digital offerings across the rest of the week.

“Whatever the delivery platform, the key to audience engagement is quality content and professional presentation. That is why we are delighted to be partnering with Nine and its renowned news and current affairs team in this pioneering venture.”

David Gyngell, CEO of Nine Entertainment Co. said: “Nine Entertainment and Fairfax Media are iconic institutions in the Australian media landscape and this program will combine the best and brightest from both organisations.

“There is a need and a real gap in the Australian television market for an intelligent and entertaining business program, and Financial Review Sunday has the right formula and mix of skills to fill that gap.”

Financial Review Sunday will be extensively cross-promoted across Fairfax and Nine platforms to ensure maximum audience reach.

Associated program coverage will also appear in the Financial Review newspaper and online at afr.com.

CPA Australia and Westpac Group have been confirmed as foundation partners of the program.

The program is a Nine production, led by executive producer Mark Calvert, in collaboration with the Financial Review news team, with companies and markets editor Nabila Ahmed engaged as consulting producer.
