The Chaser Is Promoting ‘Minister Potatohead’ T-Shirts To Celebrate Peter Dutton’s Defamation Win

The Chaser Is Promoting ‘Minister Potatohead’ T-Shirts To Celebrate Peter Dutton’s Defamation Win

The Chaser are going at Peter Dutton again by promoting their ‘Minister Potatohead’ shirts via Lonely Kids Club.

They promoted the shirts on Twitter where they posted a link to the shirts and the caption: “Celebrate Peter Dutton’s defamation win today by purchasing this completely in no way related to Minister Potatohead T-Shirt.”

The Chaser Twitter account replied to their own tweet with “Every t-shirt comes with a complimentary 3-day warranty to give us time to flee the country with your money.”

Taking a jab at Dutton is something the Chaser boys are no strangers to as we’ve seen with their constant reference to the Liberal Party member as a potato.

Classic Chaser articles like ‘Peter Dutton Promoted to Prime Minister for Potatoes,’ and ‘Peter Dutton starts to sprout after spending too long in the cabinet,’ are just a few of the punts at the Minister for Defence.

The Aussie comedians went all out this afternoon and posted an article titled, ‘Massive cunt wins defamation case,’ with a photo of Dutton in the shadows next to an image of Shane Bazzi, the man sued by Dutton, smiling, brightly lit, and standing in front of a colourful wall.

Under the Tweet of the article, The Chaser wrote “For the record, this is just our honestly held opinion.”

The Chaser didn’t stop there as they’ve fired off a few more shots at Dutton on Twitter.

In February this year, Bazzi tweeted “Peter Dutton is a rape apologist” with a link to an article from The Guardian featuring comments Dutton made about refugee women “trying it on,” making claims they had been raped in order to come to Australia.

According to the ABC, Justice Richard White found the tweet defamatory of Dutton saying: “Mr Bazzi has not established the statutory defence of honest opinion or the common law defence of fair comment on a matter of public interest.”

Dutton has been awarded $35,000 in damages, although Dutton’s legal team were unsuccessful in arguing that Bazzi should be banned from tweeting about Dutton in the future.

Bazzi tweeted the post-verdict statement yesterday: “We are very disappointed with the outcome. We will be taking time to consider our options. Thank you for all of your support and solidarity. I ask that you could please respect my privacy at this time.”
