Magnum & Co Announces Change In Ownership, As Founder Michelle Hampton Exits After 16 Years

Independent brand communications agency Magnum & Co has announced that founder, chairperson and majority shareholder Michelle Hampton is exiting after 16 years.

Founding Magnum in 2005, Hampton played a leading role in growing the business into one of the country’s most recognised independent communications agencies.

“After achieving so much over the last 16 years, it is time for me to move on and focus on some new ventures,” she said.

“I will always have fond memories of my time at Magnum, from the very beginning, being that young and eager 25-year-old, following a raw desire to do things differently; leading me on an incredible journey of fun, hard work, rewarding experiences and working with some astoundingly talented and lovely people.”

Hampton said she never started the agency with the intention to build it into what it is today.

“In all honesty, at 25 years of age, I quit my job at the time because I wanted to work my own hours, make my own rules, and partner with brands I was genuinely interested in; ones that wanted to think differently,” she said.

“It was never about making money, but I knew my value and was relentless about doing great work, and I believe that’s why Magnum became successful very quickly. Brands saw genuine passion and a willingness to work hard to authentically build their businesses.”

As Hampton exits, director and co-owner Katie Barclay has acquired the business.

“As Magnum continues to go from strength to strength, I’m excited to take the reins and lead us into a new chapter,” she said.

“After 11 years leading Magnum together and working on some incredible projects with brands like Red Bull, Ubisoft and Pizza Hut, I wish Michelle all the best.”
