Mamamia Founder Mia Freedman In $12M Eastern Suburbs Property Tussle

Mamamia owner and founder Mia Freedman is currently embroiled in property $12 million eastern suburbs property tussle following a series of disputes between Freedman and its owner.

Freedman has been living in the property since early 2015 after they entered into a deed in December 2015 which allowed them to live at the Bellevue Hill property with the option of eventually buying it.

However, a court has been told the contract to buy the property was revoked following disputes between Freedman and the owner, such as who should pay for a roof replacement.

Freedman and her husband have allegedly experienced ongoing water leaks from a defective roof and said they have had to carry out “significant repairs” to make sure no water enters the home.

Current owner of the property Somna Lala Kumar denies the roof is defective.

Freedman and her husband are now suing Kumar, who lives in London, seeking damages, interest costs and an order for her to attend to settlement of the property, and an order the rescinded contract was invalid.

Kumar is in turn seeking a judgement for possession of the property as well as a $600,000 deposit and unpaid rent of $944.33 per day.

The hearing is still ongoing.
