Urgent Recall Issued After Tween Star Jojo Siwa’s Makeup Tested Positive For Asbestos

Tween star Jojo Siwa has found herself in hot water after her makeup kit was recalled due to trace evidence of asbestos found in the product.

The makeup kit, which was sold at North American tween accessories store Claire’s, was recalled by the U.S. FDA after the eyeshadow included in the kit tested positive to the dangerous fibral material asbestos.

The 16-year-old global sensation who is currently on her D.R.E.A.M. tour has not yet commented, but Claire’s released a statement to USA Today: “Claire’s stands behind the safety of this item and all other Claire’s cosmetic items, as such small trace amounts are considered acceptable under European and Canadian cosmetic safety regulations.”

With more than 8.4 million followers on Instagram, and nearly 10 million subscribers on YouTube, her quirky style and larger-than-life personality has earned a cult following with pre-teens.

Siwa has been able to capitalise on her personal brand by creating an empire of clothing, accessories, makeup, toys and more, all targeted to a pre-teen audience.
