Monday TV Wrap: GoT Proves Lucrative Drawing Card For Foxtel As Over 1M Aussies Tune In

Foxtel is having its time in the spotlight as over one million Aussies tuned in to watch the season 8 premiere of HBO hit Game of Thrones last night.

According to OzTAM preliminary figures, the show, which was delivered across a few time slots on Foxtel, earned itself 193,364 when it premiered at 11am, 293,680 viewers at 3.20pm, 263,643 at 8.30pm.

MCN revealed 288,000 viewers watched on demand on Foxtel Go.

In free-to-air news, Seven has continued its winning streak, dominating last night’s TV spots, leaving Nine and Network 10 in its wake.

Seven won the top three spots for the night, with Today Tonight coming in at number one (1.054 million viewers) Seven News (1.008 million) and My Kitchen Rules (850,000), according to overnight OzTAM metro numbers.

Nine nabbed the next three spots, with Nine News 6.30 (946,000), Nine News (926,000) and A Current Affair (796,000).

That left Network 10 licking their wounds, with Dancing With The Stars earning itself a measly 543,000 views.

ABC did well for itself, with ABC News garnering 731,000 views, Four Corners earning 710,000 eyeballs and 661,000 viewers tuning in to Australian Story.

Off the back of Seven nabbing the top three spots, it’s no surprise the channel dominated with 29.4 per cent of last night’s shares, with Nine coming in second at 24.5 per cent. ABC scored itself a solid 21.5 per cent share, with Network 10 trailing behind at 17.6 per cent. SBS has a night to forget with just 6.9 per cent.
