Wednesday TV Wrap: MKR Does The Business, But Nine Takes The Cake

Seven may have had the top three shows last night, but it wasn’t enough to stop rival Nine claiming overall honours, according to the OzTAM numbers.

As expected, the surprisingly bitchy 2018 season of MKR took top spot with 1.14 million viewers. Seven’s 6pm news was second with 976,000 and Today Tonight took bronze for Seven with 958,000.

But it was Nine winning the night overall, snaring 32.9 per cent audience share. Seven came in second with 29.4 per cent. Ten had a disappointing evening with only 15.5 per cent. The ABC managed 14.9 per cent and SBS took home 7.3 per cent.

Nine’s news was its best with 923,000, while a further 915,000 cricket fans hung about for Nine’s T20 match between Australia and England which is ultimately what gifted the night to Nine.

Ten’s best was I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! pulling – it would have to be said – a disappointing 635,000, while The Project clocked up 559,000.

Best for the ABC was its 7pm news bulletin that had 692,000, followed by Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell with 493,000 and 7.30 whose slightly excruciating interview with Barnaby Joyce managed 485,000.
