Freeview Recognised At International HbbTV Awards

Freeview Australia has been awarded Best Marketing or Promotion of an HbbTV Based Service at the inaugural HbbTV Awards, announced last week in Rome.

Run by the HbbTV Association, the global awards attracted 71 entries from 17 countries and recognise the best adoption of HbbTV (hybrid broadcast broadband TV), technical excellence and commercial advantage.

Freeview took out the honour for the two latest spots in the ‘Keeping up with the Freemans’ campaign – ‘The Grey Button’ and ‘Man Flu’ – which the judges deemed innovative and funny in promoting the Freeview Plus service.

Freeview CEO Liz Ross said: “We are very proud of our ‘Keeping up with the Freeman’s’ campaign and to be recognised on a global stage is a true honour, especially given there are now 25 countries delivering HbbTV services.

“We took great care to devise a campaign that incorporated a casual, engaging and classically Australian approach to deliver multiple messages.”

Freeview Plus was also shortlisted for Best Use of Content Discovery (VOD and Guides) at the HbbTV Awards.
