ACA’s Ben McCormack Pleads Guilty To Child Pornography Charges
A Current Affair reporter Ben McCormack has this morning pleaded guilty to two counts of child pornography offences.
McCormack, 43, faced Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court where his lawyer, Sam Macedone, revealed his client would enter two pleas of guilty to using a carriage service to transmit, publish or promote child pornography following his arrest in early April.
Magistrate Jennifer Atkinson today told McCormack he would be committed to sentencing on the 6th of October.
A predictable media scrum waited for McCormack and Macedone when they left court this morning.
Again, all questions were answered by Macedone who said McCormack had merely indulged in “fantasy chat” and had never traded images of minors.
“Ben has always admitted to what he’s done, however the facts weren’t exactly correct,” Macedone told reporters outside the court.
“I just wanted to make it quite clear that there was never any images that were traded between Ben and anyone else of any child exploitation material. It was nothing more than fantasy talk, but no transporting of images.
“That’s what I wanted, that’s what we’ve got, so we’re now pleading guilty and we’ll move on from that,” he said.
