Facebook Goes Global With Messenger Ads

After promising tests in Australia and Thailand, Facebook has announced it is expanding its beta of Messenger ads globally.

The beta expansion of Messenger ads will begin with single image and carousel formats, with additional formats to come.

Messenger ads will be available in Ads Manager and Power Editor to a subset of advertisers, and in the coming weeks will roll out to all advertisers globally.

“Later this month, we will begin to roll out ads to a small percent of consumers globally, which will increase slowly over time,” a Facebook statement said.

Messenger ads are an ad placement in the home tab of the mobile app. When a person taps on an ad, they will be sent to the destination chosen during ads creation – this could be a website or a Messenger conversation.

If an advertiser is using automatic placements, Messenger is included. Messenger ads are not available as a standalone placement at the moment.
