Snapchat Makes It Easier For Ad Partners To Buy Geofilters

Snapchat seems to be banking on a new avenue to fuel its advertising business, with parent company Snap Inc. to enable its ad partners in Australia, the US, Canada, and the UK to sell and track sponsored geofilters.

Sponsored geofilters are unique branded overlays that Snapchatters apply to images and videos to show when, where, and why they Snap.

The news means that from Monday, Snapchat’s ad partners, which include Amobee and VaynerMedia, will now be able to sell sponsored geofilters alongside full-screen video ads, according to Business Insider Australia.

Previously, sponsored geofilters were only able to be purchased using Snapchat’s self-service tool, which came to be in February last year.
