Cartoon Network Appoints We Are Social

Socially-led creative agency We Are Social has been appointed the social agency for Turner’s Cartoon Network, cooking up Bacon Pancake Doughnuts in its first activation.

Inspired by Cartoon Network’s hit series Adventure Time, the Bacon Pancake Doughnuts will be available across Australia at Doughnut Time stores from Thursday March 9. The doughnuts are one element of a campaign including an Adventure Time Snapchat filter and Facebook Live Q&A hosted by influencer Louna Maroun to support Adventure Time Live – an interactive, live audio-visual event in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, featuring voice actors from Adventure Time.

The Bacon Pancake song made its debut in the fourth season of Adventure Time, with Jake the Dog singing the song while frying bacon on the stove. It became a cult classic, with Hugh Jackman lip-syncing the song on Dubsmash and releasing it on his Instagram account. The episode has become the highest-rated show of the series, with more than 3.5 million viewers.

Bacon Pancake Doughnuts have been created by Doughnut Time and have a maple syrup glaze in Jake’s signature yellow, topped with crispy bacon coated in caramelised pancakes and garnished with sprinkles in the colours worn by Adventure Time’s human character, Finn.

We Are Social managing director Suzie Shaw said the agency was looking forward to working on more innovative projects with Cartoon Network. “As a mum, I know that this element of the campaign brings together two things kids love: Adventure Time and Doughnut Time. And as a company, we’re looking forward to working with Cartoon Network, which is home to great brands and content. Every brief they have is a whole lot of fun.”
