Matt Newcomb Joins IAB Video Council

InSkin Media Australia GM Matt Newcomb has been appointed to the IAB Australia’s Video Advertising Council. A 15-year media industry veteran, Newcomb’s takes up the industry advisory role with immediate effect.

Established in 2014 to help support the growth of video within digital display advertising, the Video Advertising Council is forms an essential part of the IAB’s industry leadership.

As video display grows beyond a 15 per cent share of total digital display revenue, the Video Advertising Council represents publishers, networks and agencies as they collaboratively address key issues and challenges facing the industry at large.

Newcomb takes up his membership alongside representatives from media players including AOL, Google, NewsCorp, Fairfax, Tubemogul and MCN. With previous industry experience at numerous roles across Fairfax and Adshel, Newcomb joined high-impact digital display provider InSkin Media as Australian GM in 2015, and has since led the company through sustained growth.

Nina Nyman, IAB director of marketing and operations and co-chair of the Video Advertising Council, said, “Each member of the Video Advisory Council works hard to deliver effective leadership and opinion on one of digital’s most dynamic and exciting fields.

“The collaborative environment offered by council membership generates solid and representative industry leadership, and forms an essential part of the IAB’s contribution to Australia’s media landscape.”

Newcomb said he’s excited to contribute to the council, and looks forward to representing non-standard digital formats and the vibrant contribution they make to publisher ecosystems, especially in video.

“As digital continues to evolve, we’re seeing non-standard formats emerge as strong branding platforms, while also delivering strong engagement. This effect is only heightened when video is added to the mix, and having a chance to contribute to industry leadership around digital video display is privilege.

“The IAB do important work to find consensus and meaningfully tackle industry issues, and I’m thrilled to be a part of that,” Newcomb continued.

The next IAB Video Advertising Council Meeting is on Sept 13 2016.
