UrbanOutsource Rebrands To UrbanYou As It Hits $1 Million Sales Milestone

Dubbed the “Uber of home services” UrbanYou (formerly UrbanOutsource) has undergone a facelift, with a new brand name and a revamped technology platform to match.

The move comes as the on-demand cleaning and gardening service provider, smashes the $1 million sales milestone, just six months after securing seed funding of $500,000 in an oversubscribed round.

Noga Edelstein, co-founder of UrbanYou believes that the milestone marks a coming of age for the on-demand service sector.

“In a relatively short period of time, the sector has taken flight,” he said. “The Uber-effect helped pave the way for on-demand businesses in Australia to disrupt existing markets from home services to food and pets.

“Reaching $1million in sales over such a short period is very exciting and shows there is a hunger for the sharing economy among Aussie consumers.”

The new UrbanYou platform introduces greater automation to the booking process for both consumers and pre-screened service professionals. Combined with the new brand, Edelstein believes the business is in the best possible position for a national rollout of the service.

“We’ve focused our efforts on perfecting the model across Sydney,” added Edelstein.

“That has proven very successful with over 90 per cent of trial users converting to regular customers and over 90 per cent rating their experience as four or five stars.

“As we look to expand into new markets and service categories, we wanted a brand that better reflected the business.  We chose UrbanYou because ultimately we’re in the business of helping you manage your busy urban life.  Combined with the new platform, we’re powered to scale as the market leader in on-demand home services.”
