Three Million Aussie Cricket Fans On Facebook For World Cup

As the Cricket World Cup kicks off this weekend, Facebook will become the world’s biggest cricket stadium, capturing global conversations on the matches and allowing players to connect with each other and their fans.

There are three million cricket fans on Facebook in Australia and over 123 million cricket fans on Facebook globally. India has a staggering 50 million cricket fans on Facebook and their cricket team’s Page has the largest following of the 14 teams participating in the Cricket World Cup.

Interestingly, the United States has more than three times the number of cricket fans as Australia. The announcement of the Indian squad on 6 January caused the greatest peak in cricket conversations to date.

“Sport is inherently social and the Cricket World Cup will dominate the conversations of 13 million Australian cricket tragics on Facebook as they connect and share opinions on the series,” said Karren Rogers, head of media partnerships Australia and New Zealand, Facebook.
