MEC Boosts Ranks With Two New Hires

GroupM media agency MEC has boosted its Sydney team with two key hires, following the agency’s recent new business spree.

Marcus Layman joins MEC as digital director from his most recent role as regional senior manager digital at MediaCom Singapore. Prior to that, Marcus spent five years at MediaCom Sydney, rising through the ranks from digital assistant to manager, implementation planning and investment.

In his new role at MEC he replaces Thomas Lyngsfeldt and will work across MEC’s client base.

MEC also welcomes aboard Jan Aguilar as director client and communications on the newly won Nestlé account. Like Marcus, Jan was most recently at MediaCom Singapore as regional associate category lead on P&G Skincare and prior to that she was manager client communications planning at MediaCom Sydney.

The appointments follow MEC’s win last month of the $60m Nestlé account and the launch of a Melbourne office.

MEC Australia CEO Peter Vogel said: “Marcus brings a wealth of digital expertise with him, and most importantly his enthusiasm for creating innovative digital and integrated campaigns, both of which make him the perfect addition to the team.

“Jan is another great hire for us and her experience across a number of Procter & Gamble brands in Asia Pacific, India and Australia demonstrates her understanding of brands’ business needs and competitive conditions across markets.”
