The Portfolio Project Launches New Clothing Brand

The Portfolio Project have released a new range of T-shirt designs via an ecommerce website, with illustrations all done by participants in the program.

The Portfolio Project was established in early 2013, seeking to assist young jobseekers with a disability in a Transition to Work program by involving them with ‘hands on’ work on new business briefs in the advertising industry.

The brand is called ‘Fresh’ and aims to showcase the young people’s creativity and illustration skills.

Having already won two international advertising awards in May 2014, The Portfolio Project are now in talks with a global advertising network as well as two major players in different industries to take on some of the young people.

Hugh Munro from STW digital agency Tongue was the first to offer a placement to one of the young people who’s designs are on the website.

There is also a section on the website to showcase some of their work outside of the program, which illustration services are available to agencies and companies alike, from storyboarding through to finished illustrations and CD covers for bands.

“Fresh is very much a youth focused brand as most of the talented young people are still in their teens.”

“Who knows what young people like better than young people right?” co-founder Duncan says.

The whole idea behind the brand is you will get fresh brand new designs but it’s also a retro treasure hunt. Shirts come in small, medium, large and kids sizes and printed on second shirts. Fresh is about a rock n’ roll lifestyle, with local music featured on the website. 60% of sales will go to the designers.
