Horticulture Innovation Australia’s 202020 Vision took out one of Australia’s most prestigious Sustainability awards in Australia: The Banksia Sustainable Cities Award.
What started out as a traditional campaign brief in 2013 has become the best sustainable cities project in Australia in 2016. The entire campaign is designed and delivered by Republic of Everyone, with support from their sister PR agency, The Bravery.
202020 Vision, is a mass collaboration of over 300 organisations working together to create 20% more green space in our urban areas by 2020. Funded by the sale of trees and plants and overseen by the Federal government backed NGO, Horticulture Innovation Australia, the 202020 Vision works at consumer, business, academic and government levels to change perception and understanding of green space and then encourage adoption at early planning stages – whether of a backyard or a new greenfield development.
It has been described by the Australian Financial Review as ‘one of Australia’s most powerful collaborative movements’.
“We couldn’t be more excited about this win. The 202020 Vision goes a long way to explaining what makes our approach to campaigns different. It uses the tools of traditional communications, but that is just the beginning. A mix of national workshops, partnerships and the like make it a broad based campaign of which advertising and communications is just one part. We create movements – not campaigns,” says Ben Peacock, founder of Republic of Everyone.
This is Republic of Everyone’s second Banksia Award following the Banksia Award for the sustainability and community project ‘The Garage Sale Trail’ they’ve co-founded in 2014.
