MKR Scores Over Two Million Viewers For Final Episode

Seven must be pretty chuffed with themselves this morning with the OzTam preliminary ratings showing the network’s reality cooking show, My Kitchen Rules, nabbed more than two million viewers last night for its finale.

The intense, five course meal cook-off on Monday night saw NSW pommies Will and Steve take out the title of MKR champtions against Mount Isa friends Jac and Shaz.

The final itself had 2.082 million viewers in a five-city metro, with the announcement of the winners straight after seeing 2.039 million.

Last week saw auction episode for Nine’s renovation reality show The Block also push just past the two million mark, with 2.027 million viewers in a five-city metro, according to OzTam preliminary ratings.

And the reality TV doesn’t stop there. Tonight sees Ten, Nine and Seven go head to head for ratings with two reno shows and one cooking show all starting their new ventures at 7.30pm tonight.

Seven’s House Rules begins, as does Nine’s Reno Rumble and Ten’s MasterChef.

Ten has been releasing details of MasterChef in the lead up to tonight’s new season debut, announcing it had a number of returning sponsors as well as some new ones.

Nine also announced it had secured Mazda as the launch partner for its new Reno Rumble show. The network also appears to be trying to get into the reality cooking space, with details of its new show The Hot Plate emerging in mid-April.
