Miami ad school has announced a three month Account Planning Boot Camp, each week a different senior planner takes the Students through a topic essential to planning operations in an intensive, three-day, hands-on session.

In classes during the week students explore creative approaches to advertising problems and how to execute and present them. The curriculum includes classes in idea generation, digital and verbal presentation skills and portfolio building. Planners and portfolio students will team up to produce a realistic scenario that precisely mirrors active duty itself. The creative students will execute campaigns based on the planning students’ insights, research and creative briefs.

Helga Diamond, the head of school said: ‘All graduates of this year’s Account Planning Boot Camp found positions as junior planners. It is a pretty tough three month course though, held at weekends and some week nights. Plus there is homework.

“So students have to be prepared to work hard. They came from a fairly diverse background, such as client side, creative and account service and account and all made the leap into a new discipline. It shows that there is a real need for that kind of intensive training the school offers.’

Here is the list of teachers:

Fran Clayton Planning Partner DDB
Will Edwards Creative Group Head JWT
Nathan Guerra Google Evangelist Google
Candice Juniper Social Content Director M&C Saatchi
Ian MacDonald Planning Director McCann
Iona MacGregor Chief Strategy Officer Publicis Mojo
Aaron Michie Chief Innovation Officer Zenith Optimedia
Sandor Moldan Creative Director Razorfish
Pieter Paul von Weiler Strategic Planning Director AJF Partnership

The two-year portfolio course trains young creatives in the concepting, strategy and execution skills. Students learn the foundation skills in their first year and have the opportunity to study at the overseas Miami Ad School or at ad agencies all over the world. Australian portfolio Students are currently studying in Berlin, Hamburg and New York city.
