McCann Sydney has lured Affinity creative lead Marcus Tesoriero to become its new creative director, working alongside executive creative director Jerker Fagerström.

Kicking off his new role last week, Australian industry heavyweight Tesoriero brings with him extensive experience across traditional and digital fields, as well as specific expertise in mobile and data-driven creative, that will help drive McCann to new heights.

McCann expressed their excitement for the appointment of Tesoriero. Adam Lee, managing director at McCann Sydney, said, “Marcus and I have worked together previously and we’re thrilled to have him on board at McCann Sydney. Marcus has developed a rather unique and well-blended skill set that will serve us well. His passion and drive for invention and new forms of storytelling will help us continue to push the creative output of the agency.”

Throughout his 17 year agency career, Tesoriero has collected a raft of local and international awards, from Australian Effies to coveted Lions from Cannes. His client list spans the likes of Audi, American Express, Qantas, The Commonwealth Bank, Lion Nathan, The RTA, Unilever and Coca Cola, and he has held senior creative roles at a succession of large integrated agencies such as DDB and Ogilvy, as well as more specialised digital shops such as The White Agency, AnalogFolk, DT Digital and Affinity.

Tesoriero joins McCann after two strong years at the helm of Affinity’s creative department attaining multiple new business wins. Noting that McCann Australia is an agency he has respected for some time, Tesoriero said he is excited for the new challenges ahead.

“I was immediately impressed with the energy and focused drive of the Sydney team to be pushing their creative product – things are on the boil at McCann Sydney so I knew it was an opportunity too good to refuse.”

Jerker Fagerström, executive creative director at McCann Sydney, said he too welcomes Tesoriero’s fresh perspective at the agency.

“Marcus is one of the best creative thinkers I’ve met and we’re thrilled to have him part of the team. His experience of truly integrated thinking, incorporating technology and data into the work, will be a major asset to our clients.”

Tesoriero equally noted, “Jerker is an impressively intelligent executive creative director. I’m looking forward to working closely with him to help produce a new era of award-winning work at McCann Sydney.”
