Made In Katana Expands Content Arm With New Audio Division

Creative digital agency Made In Katana has bolstered its production capabilities with the launch of a new division focusing on audio.

Made In Katana Audio specialises in 15-second and 30-second audio spots, 3D audio spots, music beds & SFX, branded podcasts, music scores for narrative film, and music supervision.

Adam Callen, creative director at Made In Katana, said the division was launched after developing a strong relationship with Spotify, which it counts as its first client.

“We noticed a gap in the Australian market for quick turnaround audio projects using a diverse range of locally sourced voice-over talent,” he said.

Made In Katana Audio will be headed by Daren Lake (pictured above), who brings over 15 years of industry experience from both the Australian and the US markets.

Lake has previously worked on audio platforms including Spotify, SoundCloud and Rdio, while his original music has featured on HBO and 90210. He has also worked with a number of well-known music artists such as Gotye, Diplo, Nas, Kid Cudi and DJ A-Trak.

“We’ve been working with Daren for a number of years,” Callen said. “We’re excited to utilise his expertise and networks, and have him working directly with us to run this division.”

Commenting on his new role, Lake said: “I’m excited to work with an agency that is not only forward-thinking, but specialises in a wide variety of media production.

“Leading this division will enable me to use my dynamic skill set of audio-related talents to better serve clients and brands.”

Lake’s appointment is effective immediately.
