The lack of nudity in the last episode of Game of Thrones was worth a breaking news alert apparently from the BBC.

The BBC has apologised for the alert, saying it wasn’t a hacking as some may have thought but that they were in the process of testing a few bits and pieces out and this alert was accidentally sent out.

Users of the app were greeted with “NYPD Twitter campaign ‘backfires’ after hashtags hijacked… BREAKING NEWS No nudity in the latest episode of Game of Thrones!!!” and so forth.

“We’ve been in the process of testing new functionality for our apps and a test message was sent in error this morning,” a spokesman said on the BBC News’ website.

“We apologise to our app users who were unnecessarily interrupted with the alert.”

The BBC also Tweeted the error was the result of testing two push notifications, the capability of which was introduced in July last year.

The mistake seemed to keep Twitter users amused at least.
