Deakin University Reinvent The Campus Tour Via Hardhat Digital

Deakin University has partnered with Melbourne agency, Hardhat Digital to reinvent the campus tour for the class of 2015.

University open days are a highly competitive space. Thousands of prospective students are turning up, looking to be informed and inspired as they decide where they’ll apply to complete their tertiary education. Campus tours play a big role in this, but for most universities they haven’t changed for as long as they’ve existed.

Deakin University decided to take the concept of the campus tour to new heights, capturing incredible footage throughout all four of its campuses with a 360 degree camera rigged to a custom built drone. Rather than playing the footage through individual virtual reality headsets, the team has built an incredible immersive virtual reality space that incorporates projections on all surfaces. The result is an amazing experience that emulates the sensation of flying through each of the campuses.

Watch the video for a sneak peek of how it all came together.
