Walking And Riding Around The City Is Attractive, Says New City Of Sydney Campaign

Sydney based design agency Toko has launched a new campaign for the City of Sydney to promote inner-city walking and riding as an attractive convenient alternative to public transport and driving.

A campaign has been prompted as part of Sydney’s first Walking Strategy and Action Plan, envisioning a city that becomes more accessible, attractive and safer to explore on foot. With progress to the cycling network and disruptions from the George Street light rail construction, this campaign encourages residents, workers and visitors to reconsider transport modes.

The Toko developed Sydney Ride/Walk Campaign ‘lifts the tarmac’ and confronts the viewer with the two well known icons for walking and riding. This concept utilises these widely distributed stencils as constant reminders about the benefits of active commuting.

Toko has collaborated with Toby&Pete to create animations based upon this concept.
