KPEX (Kiwi Premium Exchange) Announces Advertising Technology Partnership With AppNexus

AppNexus, the world’s leading independent advertising technology company, and New Zealand’s leading programmatic exchange, Kiwi Premium Exchange (KPEX), today announced a commercial partnership which sees AppNexus become KPEX’s primary monetisation platform across all digital channels and formats, including display, video, and native.

In addition, AppNexus will exclusively power the KPEX Private Marketplace from February 2018.

Launched in November of 2015, KPEX is a joint venture between New Zealand’s leading publishers and broadcasters, including Fairfax Media, TVNZ, Mediaworks, and NZME. Its inventory partners include Allied Press, Sun Media, Tangible Media, Homes.co.nz, Choice TV, and Allure Media.

“KPEX and AppNexus are aligned in our mission to bring transparency to programmatic advertising, so that New Zealand’s premium publishers, broadcasters and content producers can thrive in the digital space,” said Richard Thompson, CEO, KPEX. “As KPEX embarks on our next phase of growth, our partnership with AppNexus will deliver our advertising partners and media agencies new levels of innovation and visibility into auction mechanics, driving better outcomes across the board.”

KPEX reaches more than 80% of the New Zealand population every month across the country’s favourite sites, with access to premium display, video, and native inventory. It has in excess of 800 million advertising page impressions within the exchange each month, which has grown consistently since launch. This provides advertisers with market leading scale to deliver effective and efficient activity in brand-safe, premium environments.

AppNexus’ advertising technology encompasses all digital channels (desktop, mobile), formats (display, video, native), and application purposes (guaranteed and programmatic). Its technology platform is open and programmable, which affords customers the ability to build and innovate on top of its Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).

“AppNexus has invested significantly in technology that brings transparency and fairness to the digital advertising marketplace,” said Michael Rubenstein, President, AppNexus. “Our partnership with KPEX enables New Zealand’s independent publishers to compete on a level playing field with Google and Facebook, so they can optimise revenue, fund the creation of premium content, and scale their business on the open internet.”

The KPEX partnership with AppNexus follows similar publisher co-operative programmatic exchange partnerships in Australia, with APEX (Australian Premium Exchange), in France, with Audience Square, and most recently with the Pangaea Alliance.
