The use of crystal methamphetamine, commonly referred to as ice, has been on the rise in Australia, and the Government is sick of it.

The Coalition has released a $9 million TV and online advertising campaign in a continued effort to curb the usage of the drug.

The six-week long campaign shows what can happen with ice users, the violence and harm it can perpetuate.

Assistant minister for health Fiona Nash said in a statement: “We need to get the message to young people and parents that this drug is extremely addictive and destroys lives and families.

“Nobody sets out to become addicted and many users think addiction won’t happen to them. It can and does, and these ads aim to show the realities of ice addiction.

“The initial stage of this campaign will run for four weeks on television and for six weeks online, making sure we hit the all-important youth demographic, whom we know see little TV advertising.”

The campaign aims to assist the National Ice Taskforce by encouraging people to provide feedback.
