Triple J Host Nooky Heads Up The Campaign As An Official Ambassador For Umi Nori

Umi Nori is a contemporary luxury label, specialising in suiting and bespoke garments that challenge the status quo of mass production and consumption.

Founded in 2019 by Zi Nori and Roman Jody, Umi Nori offers lifestyle style solutions that begin with made-to-measure products and sustainably produced accessories that are available by-appointment-only at the Umi Nori Atelier, located at 350 George St in Sydney’s CBD.

Umi Nori has quickly become the go-to suit for Australian creatives and artists, as seen on Senator Briggs, Sticky Fingers, Johnny Hunter, Nookie, Kobie Dee, Hayley Mary, Triple One, Firass Dirani, ONEFOUR, Lime Cordiale and more. As a brand and product, Umi Nori is a vessel for self expression, the garments are completely made-to-measure and tailored to each individual, as is the personalised retail experience which is why the Atelier is strictly by-appointment-only.

Umi Nori suits are often a collaboration between the wearer and Zi, who guides the process of fabric choice, trimmings and style given the occasion, drawing upon his expertise from working alongside master tailors within the industry since adolescence. Zi’s broad and applied knowledge of tailoring craftsmanship coupled with Roman Jody’s detail oriented and bold aesthetic approach to fashion has cultivated the Umi Nori style and image. The attitude towards suiting is one that has been tailored to modernity, throwing out any notions of dapper-wannabe-boys club bs. Umi Nori also offers ‘off the rack’ and set styles such as those featured in the latest collection.

For Autumn/Winter ‘22, Nooky wears a tobacco seersucker suit, combined with deconstructed tailoring to offer maximum comfort and breathability. Nooky also wears another two suits made both from luxury Australian Merino wool that is spun in Italy. Both looks feature a wide, peak lapel; the pinstripe suit with a single-button jacket and vest, the black suit is a double-breasted ‘wrap’ style that features an invisible button closure, a look that is becoming an Umi Nori signature.

“We made this collection completely for Nooky to present Umi Nori tailoring and to work with a close friend of the brand that embodies the dedication to craft and energy in their own field.” – Zi Nori, co-founder.

The new collection is now on display at Umi Nori Atelier and appointments are open for physical consultations or online via Zoom, which can be booked through www.uminori.com. All consultations are commitment free and if you aren’t in Sydney, Zi has monthly trunk shows in Melbourne and seasonal visits to Queensland.
