Business In Heels will be hosting The 2022 Women in Marketing Leadership Summit on Friday 13th May (virtual), so start locking it in your diary! You can purchase tickets HERE.

The Summit will be an empowering day showcasing leaders and role models across the marketing industry, who will talk openly and honestly about their career journeys, and give insights into the industry.

B&T would also like to offer subscribers and members a 20 per cent discount off the ticket price, just by using the code bihminus20.

Keynote speaker, Margie Reid, who is CEO Thinkerbell, and was recently voted in B&T’s Top 30 Women in Media power list, will share her inspiring and passionate journey through the marketing industry, the hurdles, the wins and the transition to CEO.

Across the day, there will be five panel discussions from industry leaders on the biggest industry topics! Panel topics will include; being customer centric, achieving your goals, technology, culture and career progression, and FMCG.

“I am passionate about inspiring the next generation of women in marketing as it’s a profession that has given me so many opportunities to travel, collaborate with others and utilise my creativity to solve problems,” said panelist Theres Tarlinton of CSR.

“Within marketing, young women can use their skills in maths and science to look at the data, discovery and metrics, or they could use their creativity in social, campaign creation and content. Every company, whether it’s a global giant or a startup, needs a professional marketer to help get their message out to their target audience effectively.

“I’ve been mentoring for over 15 years and used my marketing craft to help brands find partners, simplify brand messages, get clear on their objectives to get first round funding and craft their overall presence. What other profession provides such a wide range of needed skills to help a company grow.”

Other panelists include Megan Kay, MD Zenith; Deb Trela, GM Sales Roy Morgan; Sally Joubert, CEO Luma Research; Mel McDonald, GM Investment Dentsu; Therese Tarlington, CSR marketing; Nabila Adnan, principal, digital and innovation, Global BHP; Stephanie Brown, global brand strategist Intuit; Amanda Connors, global CMO Total Beauty Network; Karen Negus, managing director Cisco; and Claire O’Connor, managing director inc Digital Media; Lynda Cavalera Ex SGS CMO & President AIM; and Aurora Sassone, strategic communications and marketing leader ANZ Oracle.

“It’s so important that we elevate women in marketing. So often those people in power have their own unconscious bias – and it’s of social conditioning,” said Stephanie Brown.

“And not just bias against women, but as we break the sexism for women in leadership, we in turn break the bias and the ceiling for others including those who experience racism, ageism, classism, LGBTQI+ or disability discrimination, and every other bias that occurs.

“When we elevate women, we elevate everyone else’s cause. Elevating women means we (men and women alike) become champions of change.”

Highlights of the day will be the two interactive workshops for all attendees, which will be a  great team builder or individual opportunity for professional development.

Topics discussed in the workshops include; “Welcome to the Boardroom”, building resilience, engaging high performance teams, building brands through LinkedIn, accountability, leadership, knowing your worth, and presenting like a leader with influence and impact.

“Regardless of industry or field, diversity, in particular the lack of women in the workplace, is still a big issue,” said Deb Trela of Roy Morgan.

“Marketing is such an exciting field; it’s varied in its processes offering so many avenues of exploration throughout every stage of business.

“Holding a senior leadership position in my business, I have a responsibility and am passionate about promoting the talents and the unique voice that young women can bring to the industry.”

The Summit finishes with an engaging networking session, an opportunity to connect with those you have and haven’t met, broaden your connections, have a laugh and toast to end the inspiring day!
