Aussie TV Productions Halt Amid COVID-19

As COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Australia, a number of reality TV shows have been forced to pause filming.

Seven’s Big Brother reboot is the latest show to hit the pause button after one of its crew members was believed to have come in contact with COVID-19 and forced into isolation.

Production company of the show, Endemol Shine, released a statement over the weekend confirming the filming halt.

The rest of the show’s crew have been sent home pending the test result of the member who’s believed to have come into contact with the virus. The contestants on Big Brother have been informed.

A spokesperson for Endemol Shine said: “We have been made aware that a Big Brother crew member has been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

“The crew member is currently feeling well and showing no symptoms of the virus, however is being tested and now self-isolating.

“As a precaution, the site is currently in lockdown pending testing and further advice.”

Elsewhere, The Real Housewives of Melbourne has also paused its filming. 10’s Neighbours is also taking a break from filming amid the coronavirus pandemic.

B&T understands other shows, such as Nine’s The Block and 10’s Bachelor are still proceeding with filming. However, it is believed 10 is currently reassessing the schedule of The Amazing Race, which is usually filmed across the globe.
