News Corp Appoints Football Australia GM As Head Of Commercial Partnerships, Sport

News Corp Australia’s director, national sales Sharb Farjami today announced the appointment of Martin Stead (pictured above) to the newly created role of head of commercial partnerships, sport.

Stead will be responsible for strengthening News Corp Australia’s partnerships with Australian sporting codes and using that to drive commercial innovation with sponsors and advertisers. 

Farjami said: “Our network of sports brands and content delivers a critical audience for fans and marketers. This multi-platform content means we deliver fans the news and entertainment they want, when they want it, before, during and after the event. The commercial relationships we have with the sporting codes and their sponsors are critical to this and Martin’s experience will help us discover new innovative ways of working with our sports partners.

Stead brings to the role a strong commercial sports and media sales background having spent time as general manager commercial development at Football Federation Australia and with the Nine Network as sport sales manager.

Stead said of his appointment: “News Corp delivers premium content and unrivalled reach in engaging Australian sports fans across multiple codes. I’m really excited about the opportunity to engage these assets and partner with Australia’s biggest sporting codes, growing News Corp’s relationship with sports fans and advertisers.”
