Humour and nostalgia appear to be the themes of this year’s Super Bowl ads and look no further than General Motors’ trailer for its spot that dropped overnight.
Nineties’ icon Austin Powers is back. Well, more to the point, the villain of the show, Dr Evil, returns to spruik the carmaker’s electric credentials.
Actor Mike Meyers is reprising the role, while Dr Evil’s sidekick, ‘Middle Number Two’ (played by Rob Lowe), looks to be in on the joke, too.
The ad’s the work of McCann and, so far, only a 24-second trailer has dropped that’s giving very little away.
General Motors will be joining Kia, Nissan and BMW who are all selling their electric credentials this Super Bowl (game starts 10am Monday Australian time.) BMW’s trailer starring none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger dropped last week. Relive the fun of that HERE.
