Facebook Unveils New Look For Messenger

Facebook has announced it has introduced new Messenger features to support the shift of messaging from text to richer forms of communication.

At the heart of the new features is a new-look home screen with new tabs for messages, including one that shows which of your friends are active on Messenger through a highlighted green dot.

Furthermore, all of your favourite groups will be highlighted on your home screen, while a new bottom bar also has tabs for the home screen, calls, the camera button, people and games.

When you have new activity in one of the sections or the tabs, you’ll now see a red dot letting you know to tap on the section or tab to check out the latest.

For example, if you have a new, unseen message, you’ll see a red dot next to home screen along the bottom. Or, if you have a missed call, you’ll see a red dot at the top next to calls.

The Messenger updates will be rolling out worldwide on iOS and Android this week.
