Triple M’s Sydney Brekkie Show Chopped A Year After Cutting Ties With Lawrence Mooney

SCA’s revamped Triple M Sydney breakfast that replaced Lawrence Mooney’s show after his abrupt departure has been canned.

Since Mooney’s departure, the show has been rejigged, and Jess Eva, Mark ‘MG’ Geyer and Chris Page have taken over the slot.

Page had already exited the show in October, but Eva still shocked listeners when she announced not only had the show been axed, but the last episode would be tomorrow.

News.com.au reported the news live on-air, Eva said, “The MG, Jess & Pagey show will not continue in 2023, and you can tune in tomorrow for the final show!”

However, Eva did clarify that her co-hosts were staying with the network and joked that none of them would be “getting some unemployment payments.”

The axing comes after the breakfast show failed to land a 3 in the last radio ratings.

An SCA spokesperson said: “SCA has confirmed today on air that the current 104.9 Triple M Sydney Breakfast show will not return next year.

“An announcement regarding the Triple M Sydney Breakfast show for 2023 will be made in due course.”

At least this parting of ways seems far more amicable.  SCA and Mooney parted on such poor times that Mooney was planning to sue the network. However, they ended up reaching a settlement.
