Many of Apple’s services such as iMessage, iCloud and the Apple Store were reported to not be operating properly a few hours ago. And while this may not have affected many Aussies, who were most likely still in bed during those hours, many users from other countries, such as the US, faced issues with the outage.
Apple’s services were down in Australia’s early morning hours, with reports claiming that the outage began at around 1pm ET (which is around 4 am AEDT.) While you can imagine that for us in the down under, this may not have really been a big problem, there were many other Apple users from across the globe who began to report connectivity issues with their devices and the company’s services.
The outage mostly appears to have affected applications such as iMessage, the Apple Store and App Store, Maps, iTunes and Apple News, and services such as iCloud, Apple TV and Apple Fitness+.
The company did not initially respond to these issues, however by around 1:30 pm ET (4:30 am AEDT) they had acknowledged the matter through their system support page, pointing out that there had been at least 11 outages which affected their services.
The issues affected everyone from independent users all the way to down to retail stores and remote workers who depend on the systems. Additionally, some US networks such as Verizon and AT&T reported connectivity problems during the Apple outage, although that may have been linked to the inability to use iMessage like normal.
The services began operating as usual at around 4 pm ET, which is 7 am AEDT, right on time for us Aussies to start our day!
