US Rockers KISS Perform Very Odd Concert For South Australian Sharks… But None Bother To Show Up

US rock band KISS has performed a unique concert on a boat south of Port Lincoln in South Australia.

Only eight guests were in attendance to see the ‘Shark Rock City’ show, which saw Gene Simmons, Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer perform on the boat.

Although it was billed as a show for the great white sharks in the ocean, unfortunately, no sharks showed up.

The low-frequency sounds of KISS were supposed to lure the sharks towards the boat.

It was all part of a promotion for Airbnb.

The tourism company had previously advertised the experience on its site, as a show for fans who “love the low-frequency sounds of rock and roll”.

It was available to purchase as a package for eight guests.

“As KISS rocks out above water, you’ll also get to see what’s down under it,” Airbnb said.

“Watch from a glass bottom boat as the music attracts the legendary band’s biggest (underwater) fans. KISS has played plenty of wild shows in the past, but this one will top them all.”

100 per cent of the proceeds went towards the Australian Marine Conservation Society.

Although KISS earlier this month cancelled the Australian leg of their farewell tour due to lead singer Paul Stanley falling ill, the iconic US band decided to honour their commitment to the sharks sans Stanley.

    1. Guys, you’ll see the official release from airbnb shortly, but the reason KISS were there was because these amazing tour operators – Adventure Bay Charters – go out every day shark cage diving (truly epic experience btw), and attract sharks by using rock music played underwater! So, when airbnb Experiences wanted to promote the experience, they thought why not use the actual band rather than just play recorded tracks to the sharks?! On a typical day, you summon up the courage, jump into the cage underwater, realise you’re holding your breath for about 5 mins and wait for those big, beautiful great whites to come circling by and check you out in the cage. On the day I went we saw 4 including a 5m female. Epic. And all to the sounds of KISS, ACDC and others, playing in the background.

Alas, 10's Gladiators has gone as quickly as it came. Should make for a very wild garage sale, however.
