It’s the moment we’ve been waiting for all week: Thursday night, and footy is back! Last night, the AFL took the top spot, significantly beating the NRL with a total TV national reach of a whopping 2,064,000.
Sydney Swans dominated the Western Bulldogs, solidifying their position on the top of the ladder. The Bulldogs, however, continue to be rattled by an injury crisis, losing Aaron Naughton to a knee injury and Ed Richards to a concussion in the early stages of the match.
Meanwhile, over on Nine, the NRL’s Indigenous round openers achieved a total TV national reach of 1,321,000. The clash, which was widely reported to be the determining match in the appointment of a NSW Blues Winger, saw the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs take home a huge 44-12 win over the St George Illawarra Dragons.

For those non-sport fans amongst us, Ten’s season 2 premiere episode of Taskmaster came in with an impressive Thursday night total TV national reach of 903,000. B&T’s own Sofia Geraghty sat down with presenter Tom Cashman ahead of the series premiere.
Cashman said that despite the nerves of the contestants, he is less nervous this year than last year. “Going into the second season, I was definitely more relaxed. I was happy with watching the first one back – it worked and I had fun”.
“We had a huge variety of different contestants in the first season, and viewers can definitely expect that again. We’ve got Josh Thomas, for example, who is definitely one of the most chaotic people that I have ever worked with”.
