Sydney Swans and Volkswagen have teamed up again for the Footy Assist Program. The program gives community AFL clubs across Australia the chance to win a share of $50,000 for their club.

2021 marks the seventh time Volkswagen and the Sydney Swans have partnered to deliver the Footy Assist program, which has seen clubs nationwide receive cash grants to assist with club initiatives including facility improvements, new footballs, guernseys or training equipment.

With applications open from today, grassroots football clubs will have the chance to win one of eight cash grants on offer.

As part of their application to win one of the eight grants on offer, clubs will be required to explain how they intend to use the funding to improve their club.

The grants pool totalling $50,000 includes two grants worth $10,000 and six grants worth $5,000.

Any member of a local AFL community will be able to nominate their club for the grant funding.

Sydney Swans CEO Tom Harley, said: “We are thrilled to work with our major partner Volkswagen to deliver the Volkswagen Footy Assist program once again in 2021.

“Both the Swans and Volkswagen have a shared passion for nurturing the next generation of AFL stars and supporting the local football communities across the country is key to this.

“Grassroots footy clubs all over Australia are getting back on their feet after the devastating impacts of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and we look forward to helping these clubs continue to produce the Swans of tomorrow through the Volkswagen Footy Assist program.”

Applications close at midnight on Wednesday September 8. Terms and conditions apply.
