SEN To Give 15-Year-Old Max Becker The Chance To Co-Host A Sports Show For Kids With Ellie Blackburn

Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) will be giving aspiring media presenter Max Becker the opportunity of a lifetime, with the 15-year-old to co-host ‘The Kid’s Edition’ show alongside AFLW star Ellie Blackburn.

‘The Kid’s Edition’ will air every Sunday beginning May 1 from 8am – 9am on 1116 SEN, with kids encouraged to call in and chat all things sports, particularly footy.

Previously hosted by Daisy Pearce, the show will cover a wide variety of topics including kids talking about their own Auskick experiences to discussing the performance of their favourite team.

Becker’s opportunity with 1116 SEN started when Sports Entertainment Network chief executive Craig Hutchison accepted an invitation to appear on Max’s podcast, ‘The Sporting Max’. Having made a great impression, Becker and Hutchison remained in contact with ‘The Sporting Max’ podcast eventually airing on 1116 SEN each Sunday morning.

Becker said he can’t wait to get started and talk sport with a younger audience. “I first emailed Craig and thought he would be too busy to reply. I couldn’t believe it when I checked my emails and saw his response. He appeared on the 50th episode of my podcast which had my largest audience and we kept in touch.”

“It’s great to now have this opportunity. I love that the show encourages kids to call in and I look forward to chatting with them about the footy.”

Blackburn said she is excited by her first hosting opportunity and working alongside Max. “You can already tell that Max is so knowledgeable and passionate about sport. I can’t wait to pick his brain during the show and connect with our young listeners.”

SEN National radio director Sam Thompson said Becker and Blackburn made a perfect fit to connect to a younger audience.

“We believe this show will really appeal to kids who want to talk about their own footy experiences at a grass roots level while also chatting about elite sport. Having Max as part of the show will really help relate to our young listeners while Ellie is someone many kids who dream of playing footy look up to. They will be a great team and I look forward to them growing together each week.”
