You Can Now Buy Carrying Straps For Your AirPods & The Internet Can’t Handle It

Sure, a new pair of Apple AirPods can you set you back as much as $400, but just think of their wireless, Bluetooth convenience.

So, a new “carrying strap” that’s become available online has stumped the internet.

The pricey bits of blue rope retail for $US60 ($A87) and are available online at Nordstrom.com and come with the promise: “Avoid losing your wireless AirPods by attaching them to this magnetic-locking leather strap and wearing around the neck when not in use.”

Initially, the online ad was called out as a gag, but apparently it’s all legit and true. And, as many people have pointed out, people will probably pay 90 bucks not to lose their earphones.

Not that Twitter had too many fans of the string. One user wrote: “Does anyone else see how redundant this is???? AirPods are all about being cord/strap free. AirPod owners, what do you think?”

Another wrote: “AirPod culture is ridiculous. Materialism at its silliest. Y’all are truly spending $150+ for the AirPods and $60 for a ‘carrying strap’ so you don’t lose em, while some of us are fine using the ear buds that came with our phone. I mean, ydy I guess.”

Another joked: “What boomer approved the AirPod carrying strap?”

Despite the social media backlash, the strap has received several rave reviews on the Nordstrom website, with one user calling it the “perfect accessory”.
