Budget airline Ryanair is often in the news, namely for its embarrassing cost-cutting measures that always overshadow its ridiculously cheap airfares to European destinations.
The Dublin-based carrier has again copped the wrath of passengers and social media users alike after serving up a €5.50 ($A9) in-flight meal that has been dubbed the “world’s saddest-looking sandwich!”
International best-selling author Liz Nugent shared a photo of the sorry-looking bacon sandwich to Twitter, explaining that her friend had purchased it off the trolley during a recent Ryanair flight.
The image shows a plain white roll, with no butter or condiments, and two miserable-looking pieces of bacon at either end.

As these things tend to do, social media soon lit up in response. Check out some of the fallout below:

I love how they're always openly at war with their customers

She should be grateful she didn’t have to assemble it herself ! I assume that’s the standard @Ryanair bacon buttie, not the #Priority spec one ? 🤣🤣🤣

I believe that's called a Fake'n Sandwich.

It’s @Ryanair. The bacon costs extra on a bacon sandwich 🥪🙈

While others were quick to point out it was arguably the fault of the catering company and not the airline.
Did your pal actually give direct feedback to the catering company instead of having a go at an airline business that gets us off this gawd forsaken island at affordable prices? Jeez thank goodness they survived through the last 18 months.People very quick to complain and whinge.

Ryanair don't make sandwiches but they do pay catering companies to do so. Might be worth looking into who are catering because that is disgusting & substandard. @Ryanair who provides your catering????

For her part, the sandwich purchaser admitted to eating the sorry mess.
“I had a lovely flight and the cabin crew were class,” Woods tweeted.
“I just found the sandwich humorous and slightly overpriced. Still ate it though.”
Ryanair has not commented on the porcine fiasco.
