It was mother’s day this past Sunday and while many brands were showcasing they knew exactly what mum wanted, US airline Virgin America decided to spread its love of MILFs.
The airline tweeted out: ‘Shout out to all the milfs out there! We love you too! #HappyMothersDay’.
MILF is a colloquialism that generally stands for ‘mums I’d like to f*uck’. However, Virgin America decided it had another meaning this Mother’s Day as ‘Mums in love with flying’.

While we’re not sure whether this was a clever marketing ploy or the social media team genuinely doesn’t know what MILF stands for, Twitter is sure loving it.
@VirginAmerica I love you

@BrodyLogan @VirginAmerica I’ve been using it wrong for so long. What a boner I’ve made. (Boner: noun, embarrassing mistake.)

A similar reaction was had when Virgin Australia accidentally tweeted to Kanye West telling him to “eat a dick”.
It turned out the Virgin Australia tweet was an accident from an employee of Carat, the media agency that handles the Virgin Australia account.
Still, many Twitter users were stoked the airline apparently said what everyone was thinking.
