Twenty-Year-Old Thai Anti-Drinking PSA Resurfaces & Becomes Social Media Smash

Judging by the alcohol consumption in Australia, it would have to be said – especially in these times of lockdown – the government’s anti-drinking messages are falling well short of the mark.

But perhaps we should be taking a leaf out of Thailand’s anti-booze drive after a 20-year-old PSA resurfaced to the delight of social media users.

The ad is called “Stop Drinking” and, as raw as it is, people are calling it a powerful message – albeit two decades on – to cut back on the booze.

The spot recently found a second wind on YouTube and is now edging towards seven-million views.

According to the 30-second video, the way to quit drinking is, “Stop drinking, Work, Work, Work, Collect Money, Work, Collect Money, Pay Debt, Work, Collect Money, Get Educated, Stable Life, Help Others, Happy, Wife Loves Him, Happy Family, Healthy, Teach Others, Improve Social, Smart, Improve His Country, Just Stop Drinking!”

And social media users are loving the reborn spot. “I don’t even want to drink water after seeing this,” commented one.

“He literally evolutioned from crook to mafia boss in half a minute,” said another.

“Just two more seconds into the ad and my mans would’ve been awarded a Noble Peace prize,” posted another.

While another added: “Plot twist: He stopped drinking and started growing tobacco.. He later became a big businessman.”
