Seven narrowly lost Wednesday evening to rival Nine again as the anticipated Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D failed to win 8.30pm.

S.H.I.E.L.D pulled in 889,000 viewers to Seven last night, a slight improvement on the 887,000 who tuned in to the movie spinoff’s second outing last week but a far cry from its 1.301 million debut.

The superhero drama played second fiddle to the ABC’s Gruen Planet which was the evening’s most watched entertainment property with 909,000 viewers, according to OzTam’s preliminary ratings.

Seven’s share was deflated to a total 28.8% while Nine took 29.4%.

However, Seven’s primary channel beat Nine’s by a 0.1 percentage point with Seven sitting on 20% ahead of Nine’s 19.9%.

Nine News (1.059 million) was the most watched show with Nine’s A Current Affair (916,000) also outperforming Seven’s Today Tonight (904,000).

Nine’s Big Brother won over 853,000 viewers while Slideshow pulled in 729,000 for Seven.

Over on Ten The Bachelor sat in 14th place with 614,000 viewers while Wonderland just made it into the top 20 with 507,000 viewers.

Ten sat on a total 18.1% share with 11.9% going to the network’s main channel. ABC won a combined 19.1% as 13.9% of that went to ABC1.

SBS claimed a total 4.6% share and 3.8% went to SBS One.
