Seven smashed the competition on Sunday, taking half of the top 20 most watched shows with its day-time Bathurst coverage squeezing the other TV networks out.

The X Factor was the most watched program with 1.811 million people tuning in to the live performances, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.

Sunday night (1.563 million) and Seven News (1.468 million) and other Seven programs including Bones (871,000) had a strong result last night but it was Bathurst that lifted Seven's high share of viewers even higher.

The race broadcast sat in fourth place with 1.263 million viewers with 873,000 staying tuned to see the podium antics. The Bathurst Final Countdown drew in a further 828,000, the Wrap-Up pulled in 782,000 and 625,000 tuned into the pre-race entertainment.

As a result , Seven was able to take a combined 39.5% share of all free-to-air viewers as race viewers stayed tuned to Seven into prime-time. The network’s main channel won 31.1% alone.

Nine’s primary channel sat on just 18.6% with the network taking a total 25.8% share. Nine’s most watched show was Nine News (1.141 million) and Australia’s Got Talent sat in 11th place with 801,000.

Ten, which had four top 20 programs including Modern Family episodes with 743,000 and 724,000 viewers, took a total 15.8% share. The networks main channel won 11.2%.

The ABC was narrowly behind the commercial network, on a total 15.2% with 10.7% of that going to ABC1.
