Last night, Aussies tuned in to A Current Affair to hear of the tradie who wouldn’t install a staircase for a Sydney great-grandmother, after she paid him $32,000.

The episode raked in a Total TV National Reach of 1,450,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 972,000 for Nine.

Bernice Miller has lived in a three-level house in Sydney’s south since 1971. After losing her beloved husband of 27 years, the great-grandmother thought a new lick of paint would brighten up the place.

Pleased with Leon Leonidas Tsounakas’ paint job, when he offered to replace her old spiral staircase, Miller trusted the Sydney tradie to deliver.

She paid $32,000 for the job, but Miller claims Tsounakas then removed the stairs and took off without putting in new ones.

“I’d thought he was really lovely and I trusted him completely,” Miller said.

After A Current Affair became involved, Tsounakas got in touch with Miller and said his company STS Painting group would “come to an agreement” if she withdrew her claims to A Current Affair and the local court, which ruled the company must pay back the $32,000.

“He knows I’m on my own, he knows I’m older, it’s mean,” Miller said.

Tsounakas then put $20,000 in Miller’s bank account and still owes her $12,000.

Mr. Kingsman: The Secret Service did the numbers for Seven, with a Total TV National reach of 1,129,000. The spy action comedy film was released in 2014 and directed by Matthew Vaughn, being the first instalment in the film series.

Over on Channel 10, Taskmaster raked in a Total TV National Reach of 745,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 360,000.
