Spikes Asia, which was held in September, has announced their Country Agency of the Year Award for Australia this week.
Country Agency of the Year is calculated on a points system and given to the Agency from an individual country that obtains the greatest number of wins at the Spikes Asia Awards.
The Country Agency of the Year for Australia for 2019 has been awarded to TBWA\Melbourne, who received their trophy at the annual B&T Awards in Sydney this evening.
The top three agencies have been announced as:
1 . TBWA, Melbourne
2 Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne
3. CHE Proximity, Melbourne
Alongside Country Agency of the Year, there were also four special awards given out at the Spikes Awards including Agency Network of the Year (BBDO Worldwide), Independent Agency of the Year (Special Group, Sydney), Asia Pacific Agency of the Year (Colenso BBDO, Auckland) and Media Network of the Year (MediaCom).
TBWA took the number one place as Country Agency of the Year for Australia following two Grand Prix Awards (Design and Outdoor) for ANZ ‘Signs of Love’.
Joe Pullos, Festival Director of Spikes Asia said, “I’m delighted with TBWA Melbourne’s win, they entered some great work to Spikes this year which really stood out in the jury rooms and has set the benchmark for what good creativity looks like across the region.
“It’s tough to win an award at Spikes, let alone a Grand Prix so TBWA has done extremely well to take out the top honour across all 443 from entries from Australia alone and win the most awarded agency in the country.”
TBWA\Melbourne & Adelaide Chief Creative Officer Paul Reardon commented on the win, “Every year our work seems to increase in difficulty, as we try to better the year before – especially with our work for ANZ. It’s a wonderful challenge to face. And while our agency has had a particularly strong 12 months, this level of acknowledgement from Spikes is still very humbling.”
Australia had a very successful year at Spikes Asia in 2019 with seven Grand Prix awards going to Australian agencies.
